Welcome to the UNIDO Committee!
The UNIDO is an organ of the UN that deals with achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, and many more specific issues within that. For instance, two of the SDGs are reducing poverty and achieving gender equality; thus, the UNIDO (and you, delegates) will debate how to reduce poverty through empowerment of women.
The best thing about the UNIDO is you won't be limited to one specific subject area: whether you normally find yourself in EnviroSci, Human Rights or Political, the UNIDO tackles major issues irrespective of speciality.
The UNIDO also has more concrete, practical strategies to achieving these goals than other UN bodies (looking at you, Security Council!) which are outlined in your briefing papers. If you have any questions, we're happy to answer them!
Pat and I look forward to a weekend of fruitful debate and (hopefully) lots of puns!
